The MSO1104Z is the 100MHz bandwidth variant in the MSO1000Z range of 1GSa/s, 4-channel digital oscilloscopes with a built-in logic analyser. It offers exceptional flexibility, performance and features for the price. Four analogue probes and one logic analyser probe-set are included. Several options are available (see ‘
OPTIONS & ACCESSORIES’ below) to further enhance the user experience including; record and replay functions, deeper memory, advanced trigger functions, serial bus analysis, rack mount kit, standard calibration (traceable to UK national standards) and UKAS calibration.

Good value, but with limitations
The large number of sample points is attractive, but there is no control over the sample rate, so it is difficult even in single-shot mode to make a long capture.
And even if you do manage to make an acceptably long capture, the serial decoding tools are almost useless, because they work only on what is visible on the screen, and will lose sync if the start of (say) and I2C transaction is off screen to the left.
That, and some rough edges in the user interface, detract markedly from the feeling of quality and reliability. For example, the trigger reverts to Auto mode from Normal seemingly at will, and that gets annoying after a while.

Only one negative – I’m not used to a scope having a noisy cooling fan. I would like to get rid of the fan!
