Rigol DM3068 Digital Multimeter

The Rigol DM3068 is a 6½ digit, multifunctional DMM designed for high-precision measurements. It possesses a combination of basic measurement functions, maths functions and a sensor measurement function. The 256 x 64 lattice high resolution monochrome LCD display, clear keyboard layout and built-in help facility make the DM3058E simple to use. Remote operation is possible via a choice of communications interfaces.

    DM3068 Quick review
    Good value; Very quiet fan; Stabilises quickly on power up; Sturdy case; Very easy to use as a stand-alone meter (I don’t need the PC interface).

    Flaws:
    * No digital filter, and the 2 second integration time can’t cope with noisy inputs. A good filter is essential on a high resolution meter. My old Thurlby 1906 had a great programmable digital filter, and Rigol should do something similar.

    * No setup memory, so It reverts to default settings on power up (Unless you leave it on standby).

    * The display is bright and clear when viewed head-on, but if the meter is flat on a bench and you are looking down on it, the display is hard to read.

    I would have given it 5 stars if it had a proper input filter.

    Telonic Comment: Please note: The digital filter used in the Thurlby 1906 to calculate an average reading has only 10 possible settings. The integration time in the Rigol DM3068 can be set from 100us to 1s. Please refer to page 2-41 in the User Guide. Furthermore, the DM3068 has internal storage for up to 10-off user set-ups. Please refer to page 2-65 in the User Guide. Thank you for your review.
